Diesel Locomotive BR 120, DR, Roco 71778, H0
A Series 120 diesel locomotive of the German State Railways (Deutsche Reichsbahn, DR) of the IV era.
This model is an updated version with new shapes and details. It features slender, separately mounted wipers, complete brake air lines with detailed reproduction of the air tanks, and authentic undercarriage details.
Separate handrails under the buffers add to the realism of the model.
Lighting for the driver's cab and engine room is integrated and can be switched digitally.
The length between the buffers is 202 mm and the minimum turning radius is 358 mm.
The model is equipped with a PluX22 interface for connecting a digital decoder.
In real life, these locomotives, known as ‘Taigatrommel’ because of the loud engine sound, were purchased by DR from 1966 to 1975 to speed up the transition to diesel traction.
Due to the lack of a factory heating system for the trains, they were mainly used in freight traffic. Mufflers were later added to reduce engine noise.
